Circular Economy – Circular Packaging

Circular Economy management minimizes resource and energy consumption as well as emissions and waste by closing material and energy cycles. As the most sustainable form of packaging, cartonboard packaging has always met the demands of the environmental service branch to a particularly high degree.

Folding cartons are renewable, recyclable and biodegradable and therefore environmentally friendly. Their production consumes a minimum of energy and resources. For all these reasons, folding cartons are recommended as the best packaging choice for a recycling economy of the present and future.

Holistic packaging solution with sustainable impact
Through holistic planning, design and production, cartonboard packaging with the smallest possible ecological impact convinces high impact at the point of sale as well as circularity.

In a process individually tailored to the requirements of our customers, cartonboard packaging fulfils a multitude of tasks. In addition to product protection, storage and transport functions as well as optical components, the positive, environmentally friendly properties of folding cartons are becoming increasingly important and attractive in current discussions. Especially since the sustainability of packaging has a proven influence on consumer purchasing decisions.

Highest recycling rate, renewable and biodegradable

Cartonboard is produced from the renewable raw material wood from sustainably managed forests or waste paper. Cartonboard packaging also has the highest recycling rate of all packaging materials within the EU at 85 %. Once they are released into the environment, paper-based packaging dissolves within a few weeks. What comes from nature becomes nature again.

Ideally positioned

The EU Circular Economy Package, which became effective in July 2018, contains requirements for the promotion of the Europe-wide recycling of raw materials - linear is becoming circular. Cartonboard packaging is ideally positioned in this respect and is already one of the top performers in the implementation of recycling management.
