German Innovation Award for MM Packaging

With the "Paper-based tear tape" project, MM Packaging was awarded the German Innovation Award in the category "Excellence in Business to Business / Logistics & Infrastructure". Cross-departmental teamwork and a passionate co-creation mentality made this success possible.
Tear tapes – e.g. for envelopes, shipping packaging, e-commerce, food and tobacco packaging – are mostly made of very strong polypropylene (PP) or polyester (PET) film. The film-based tear tapes are often the only feature of the packaging, made of plastic and which is not biodegradable. MM Neupack and TANN GERMANY – both plants of MM Packaging – developed »paper-based tear tapes«: The choice of a strong paper, offering high stability with the lowest possible thickness, was a key part of the project. Envelopes and some types of packaging can be made than 100% plastic-free in the future.
Our solution has already won the German Packaging Award 2022 and the WorldStar Award 2023 and is patent pending.
